My Reflection 2

Reflection:

Thursday, November13, 2014, this is my tenth day in the Mohmmad bin Khalifa School. In this day, I prepared to explain the lesson for the children in English, the lesson was about (People who help us in the community), and I choose this topic to get them know those people who help us in our community. Also to let children think what they want to be in the future.

In the period 5, at 10:50 am, I touch English lesson to Grade 4 (D) with 27 student and in this day, I have just two student absent and other two in the social worker because there are have behavior problem. Ms. Aneela Bukhari attended in this lesson to observation me. 

In this day, I was a little tense and confused because this is my first experience for me to teach specially teaching boys, I think it's a job that needs patience.

I began my lesson by reminding the boys about classroom rules; I read it loudly and I asked them to repeat after me, just to make sure that they would use them. Then I started offering PowerPoint with first question about (what I want to be when I grow up?). After that the boys answered the question, I ask them the second question about (who help us in the community?) .It was part of my plan to let boys think about the people who help us in our community and to Identify their goals in the future.

 Then I show the children many picture about our helper and I let them guessing who is and what his job in the community. After I make sure, they understood the pictures for our helper, I started with them the first activity. it was about small book I created for them which is three papers, the caver page, (what I want to be …) and the other two are empty, one I ask the children to draw the picture of what they want be in future and the last one to write the word of the job. This activity almost took between 8 to 10 minutes and I let the children do this activity individual.

The second and last activity I have done in this lesson it was a worksheet with picture for same helper in the one side and the name for the helper job in the other side, and I asked the children to matching the word with the right picture. This activity was took just 3 min because I want to see if the children remember the lesson or not. I work in the classroom and I let the children do their activity individual.


I spoke in English throughout the lesson, even when the kids did not understand some part of the lesson I repeat it again by using simpler words in English.

I used some of the strategies that could make teaching easier especially with boys; I took it from my MST Ms. Sandra. Such as, I write the word (PLAY) in the whiteboard and when the boys do their best work quaintly, I circle one letter until I circle the letter (Y) than I let them to play outside with ball for five minutes. This is to encourage them to do their best.

In addition, I used with them the Red and yellow dots as warning, the yellow dot is first warning and the red one is the second warning. This strategy to be able to control the calm in the classroom and the children and to warn the student if he did annoyed and makes the others keep quiet to don’t get a warning as well.

I also used tables to put points in which table the child sits quiet as one of the strategies, which helps to organize the lesson time.

The last some strategies I used with the boys, that if it begins to nuisance and I want to get their attention I closing the lamps and I open again and really work with them well.
